How prepared are you for retirement?

What does a successful retirement mean to you?

Successful retirement (however we define it) is not a one-day course or a quick fix. It’s the effective realisation of our life’s work and purpose.

While you may have spent significant time thinking about the financial aspects of retirement planning, many of us have not contemplated the emotional, physical and health-related dimensions to be ready for retirement. All too often we think retirement readiness only has to do with our stock portfolio and other financial retirement benefits.

Retirement is a very personal thing – there are no ‘one-size-fits-all’ approaches. Planning for retirement is even more important today than it has ever been. Retirees are much healthier, much more active and can expect to live much longer – a whole new phase of life and opportunity is opening up.  The decision when and how to retire is now in our own hands.

This means that it is extremely important to understand the opportunity that retirement presents for us personally and to remove any concerns we may have in order to help us to decide when we want to retire, or partially retire. Otherwise there is a danger that through inertia we will just continue working and miss the opportunity that retirement presents.

Retirement Options

As a Certified Non-Financial Retirement Coach, I understand there is more to retirement than merely building a financial source to enable you to quit working. I can support you in a number of ways:

  • Working with you to understand what you really would like from your retirement.
  • Helping you understand what kind of lifestyle you would like to live and why that is important to you.
  • Assisting you in understanding the mix of emotional issues which can hold you back from transitioning into a successful retirement – free from the drama which can accompany the change from ‘working’ to retirement.
  • Formulating a plan to make that happen and living that plan – a meaningful and successful retirement.

LifeOptions Profile™

An assessment can show where you are well prepared for one thing while not being quite so ready for something else to happen.

When approaching retirement or any change of direction, it requires the same process of self-analysis and consultation as you would go through with a career change. Retirement doesn’t have to mean the end of working altogether, so this is the time to look at all your options and discover what it is you really want.

The LifeOptions Profile™ is an online assessment which assesses your retirement readiness across 20 lifestyle and attitudinal dimensions in six life arenas: Career and Work, Health and Wellness, Finance and Insurance, Family and Relationships, Leisure and Social, and Personal Development.

Upon completion of The LifeOptions Profile™, you receive personal and practical insights on transitioning from your current lifestyle to your new retirement lifestyle. The report indicates areas of preparedness (as compared to others who have taken the assessment) and identifies gaps providing a functional blueprint for retirement planning and transition.

As a Certified Retirement Options Coach, I offer two 1:1 strategic career and life planning programmes for the over 50’s.
