“The thought of retirement terrifies me, I’ve no idea what I’m going to do and don’t know where to start!”

“I want to discover new life purposes and goals for my retirement life.”

“I love what I do and don’t want to stop working completely. I need to figure out how to do this.”

As a Certified Non-Financial Retirement Transition Coach and Accountability Partner, I work with individuals and couples who are looking to plan and prepare for the non-financial and emotional aspects of this transition.

I also specialise in a wide range of self-development and career-related coaching tools, which can complement any areas of your life and work you’d like to focus on. This may include strengths profiling, understanding your values and motivators, reviewing your CV, be better prepared for interview, or plan your strategy for career options pre- and post-retirement.

Successful retirement (however we define it)

is not a one-day course or a quick fix.

I understand there is more to retirement than merely building a financial source to enable you to quit working. So while you may have spent significant time thinking about the financial aspects of retirement planning, many of us have not contemplated the emotional, physical and health-related dimensions to be ready for retirement.

Retirement is a very personal thing – there are no ‘one-size-fits-all’ approaches. Planning for retirement is even more important today than it has ever been. Retirees are much healthier, much more active and can expect to live much longer – a whole new phase of life and opportunity is opening up.  The decision when and how to retire is now in our own hands.

This means it is extremely important to understand the opportunity that retirement presents for us personally and to remove any concerns we may have in order to help us to decide when we want to retire, or partially retire. Otherwise there is a danger that through inertia we will just continue working and miss the opportunity that retirement presents.

My Retirement Transition Coaching can support you to:

  • Clarify work-life goals, value and priorities
  • Reflect on your career story, understand your work-centred identity & how this might change
  • Create your retirement ‘wish list’ and understand what kind of lifestyle you’d like to live and why that is important to you
  • Explore options, resources and barriers
  • Discover new ways to measure success and gain meaning and satisfaction
  • Explore the range of emotional issues which can hold you back
  • Address the non-financial issues and anxieties which may be causing you to keep putting off retirement
  • Create and plan new activities and strategies
  • Develop strategies to manage these issues and make them work for you
  • Implement your personal action plan – turn your planning into action and reality
  • Review, refine and adapt your plans.

LifeOptions Profile™

An assessment can show where you are well prepared for one thing while not being quite so ready for something else to happen.

When approaching retirement or any change of direction, it requires the same process of self-analysis and consultation as you would go through with a career change.

Retirement doesn’t have to mean the end of working altogether, so this is the time to look at all your options and discover what it is you really want.

The LifeOptions Profile™ is an online assessment which assesses your retirement readiness across 20 lifestyle and attitudinal dimensions in six life arenas:

Career and Work, Health and Wellness, Finance and Insurance, Family and Relationships, Leisure and Social, and Personal Development.

Upon completion of The LifeOptions Profile™, you receive a unique report which indicates areas of preparedness (as compared to others who have taken the assessment) and identifies gaps, providing personal and practical insights on transitioning from your current lifestyle to your new retirement lifestyle.

All 1:1 Retirement Coaching Transition clients will receive a LifeOptions Profile™ and report, alongside the Toolkit resources. Please get in touch if you’d like to find out more about this profile assessment.
